For those who don’t know Chris Brown, he is the Event Director for CloserStill Media, the organisation responsible for bringing The Dentistry Show to the dental world.
SW: With the show fast approaching, how are things with you Chris?
CB: I’m great! It’s the most exciting time of the year for me as we put the final touches together for this year’s Dentistry Show.
SW: Just to give us a greater insight of you as a person, how would people who know you describe you?
CB: Bearded, serious, organised – not super organised, I’m still a free spirit at heart!
SW: You were out of the country for your honeymoon over Christmas and New Year, how was your trip?
CB: It truly was the trip of a life-time: China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. It was -7°C in China and 36°C in Cambodia – the whole trip was an adventure of extremes. Nepal and Tibet are next up!
SW: So it’s fair to say that you’ve had a busy time recently then?
CB: Yes, and it’s busy at the moment that’s for sure! As well as this year’s The Dentistry Show, we’re also starting the planning process for 2016! Next year is a big year for us with the 10th anniversary of the show. We’re already brainstorming about what we’ll be doing, but as always with The Dentistry Show, it certainly won’t be boring!
SW: What are you most looking forward to at this year’s The Dentistry Show?
CB: Now that we’ve moved the show to April, it’s taking place after The International Dental Show in Cologne which means that The Dentistry Show will be the first chance for people to see the very latest dental equipment and materials on display. Now that’s exciting!
SW: What do you think will be the highlight(s) of this year’s show?
CB: I’ve seen a few of the stand designs and can tell you that some exhibitors have really pulled out the stops this year – to have a hall with 400 exhibitors is amazing, but to have over half of them building and designing their own stands really makes a difference. We also have four hands-on workshops this year, featuring sessions hosted by some A-list speakers. Any dentists lucky enough to book on in time will have an amazing experience! Oh, and the Practice Plan Business Skills Workshop Theatre is back again. After last year’s success and the incredible demand for seats, we’ve built the theatre even bigger so that’s definitely one not to miss.
SW: Finally, one last word on why you think this year’s show is a must-attend?
CB: The speaker line-up is just so good – and it’s still free to attend. When we speak to delegates they still can’t believe that they can access so much at the show for free. There really is something for everyone in the team, from the latest innovations to free CPD!
The Dentistry Show takes place on 17th and 18th April at the NEC in Birmingham. To see the Business Skills Workshop Theatre programme and speaker line-up click here.
